Miss Shirley’s Cafe is humbled and honored to be celebrating the 10 Year Anniversary of the cafe’s original location in Baltimore City’s Roland Park neighborhood!
That is why, from May 2015 - February 2016, Miss Shirley’s is #ShirleysGiving to one local charitable organization each month, in an effort to give back to the community who has supported them for the last decade.
As a Corporate Member, Miss Shirley’s is happy to be partnering with The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore this month, by adopting 10 African Penguins!
The Adopt an Animal program aids the Zoo in providing the best habitat and health care available for the animals. The financial support helps make it possible for them to acquire state-of-the-art equipment and medicines, as well as veterinary and medical specialists, ensuring the safe keeping and health of the wildlife.
Miss Shirley’s Founder, Eddie Dopkin, always had a special connection to the The Maryland Zoo, serving as a longtime fan, supporter, caterer and board member for many years. In December of 2014, the Zoo dedicated a bench in loving memory of Eddie, which is located in the new Penguin Coast exhibit.
To further honor our founder, Miss Shirley’s is also excited to have the opportunity to name a newly born penguin chick after Eddie, in the coming months!
Stay tuned through February 2016 for more #ShirleysGiving updates on this partnership with The Maryland Zoo, as well as the other charitable organizations who will be a part of our “10 Months of Shirley’s Giving” Campaign.
